My 5-Year Plan
In five years, I see myself working in a steady job that lets me use the skills I’ve learned at SOWELA. I’d like to work somewhere local here in Louisiana, helping people with computers, networks, or other technology. I don’t plan on leaving the state because my family and friends are here, and I want to stay close to the people who matter most to me. Being able to build a life and career right here at home feels more rewarding to me than moving somewhere far away.
My goal isn’t to chase certifications or fancy titles. What matters most is learning through real experience—actually doing the work, solving problems, and understanding how things fit together. I enjoy figuring out how technology works, whether that means fixing a broken computer, setting up a small network, or helping someone understand their devices better. That’s the kind of work that keeps me motivated.
I also want to keep growing outside of work. I enjoy being creative—drawing, listening to music, and trying new ideas just for fun. It’s important for me to have a good balance between work and personal time, so I can keep learning without feeling burned out. Over time, I hope to gain confidence in my abilities, take on new challenges, and find ways to make a difference through technology.
My Goals for the Next Five Years
- Find a full-time job in computer support or technology.
- Stay in Louisiana and build a stable career close to home.
- Keep learning by doing hands-on technical work.
- Maintain a good work-life balance with time for creativity.
- Continue improving my understanding of computers and networks.
To stay up to date with technology, I like to read articles on CNET and TechSpot. These sites are great for keeping up with the latest in tech, from new hardware to helpful software tips. I don’t need to be an expert in everything, but I do like knowing what’s changing in the tech world so I can keep improving.
When I picture my life five years from now, I see someone who’s confident, dependable, and happy with the work they’re doing. I want to be the kind of person people can rely on for help and advice. My goal is simple—to keep learning, stay grounded, and keep moving forward one step at a time. If I can do that while staying true to who I am and where I’m from, I’ll consider that a success.
